Corona virus (Covid-19)
Together we work and live in an international environment with accompanying travel behavior and often we are physically relatively close together. That is why it is important to follow the measures of the he government and the National Health Service (RIVM/GGD). On this page you will find general information about the measures in the Netherlands. DUWO tries to translate this as well as possible into the situation for (international) students. Where possible, we also provide examples and make things visible. With this we hope to give you an insight into what all this means for you, what we can do together to limit the spread of the virus and what you can do to make life during the corona crisis as pleasant as possible. The website is regularly updated.
Have you just come (back) from abroad?
General measures (National Health Service and Security Regions)
As a landlord, DUWO has no leading role concerning the corona virus. That role is for the National Health Service (RIVM/GGD). DUWO follows the strict measures and instructions they set. We also only support when the GGD is involved and requires us to do so. If you have symptoms of the virus and have a minimum fever of 38.5 degrees, we advise you to stay indoors and to contact the doctor immediately by telephone.
The security regions in the Netherlands are responsible for the special regulations during the corona crisis. DUWO naturally follows these regulations. It is also very important that our tenants do this as well.
In this context, it is important to mention that the fines for violation are substantial and can also mean an annotation on your criminal record.

Additional measures DUWO
In any case, the counters of our customer service are closed at least until 1. November 2020 to prevent the spread of the virus as much as possible. We will of course remain available by phone and also via the contact form.
The room rental will continue as normal as possible. It is possible to visit the office to pick up keys to view homes that you have responded to. Naturally, we have taken the necessary measures for reception. Vote-ins are also continuing, this is temporarily done remotely, the digital way (ZOOM, Face time,…).
We also welcome new international students who are able to come to the Netherlands. However, large-scale arrivals are not possible. We are currently preparing the arrival of the international students in the summer period and will provide them with the necessary information and instructions.
What can you do yourself?
Of course it is important to observe the guidelines of the National Health Service and the regulations of the Security Regions, but try to keep the life, also of the people around you, as pleasant as possible. Do not stay indoors all the time. Also go out regularly and continue to meet roommates and friends responsibly and appropriately. Avoid crowded places and avoid meeting in large groups when you do so. Take good care of your friends and the people around you. Now that everyone is at home, people are more affected by noise, so please avoid inconvenience.
If you are just arriving from a country with a high level of corona cases, or from a country with a EU travel ban, you are strongly advised to practice 10 days of self-quarantine. Read more about it here.
In the video below you can see how Mick & Tijn deal with the situation. They live in one house with 28 tenants.
With regard to hygiene, it is of course important to follow the regulations of the National Health Service on a daily basis:
-Wash your hands regularly with soap and water
-Sneeze into your elbow instead of your hands
-Use paper tissues and throw them away immediately after use.
-Don’t shake hands
-Keep 1.5 meters distance from other people wherever possible
